Valentine's Day fun run (4:02 p.m.)

MANILA -- Lovers and singles alike will converge at the Quirino Grandstand on Valentine's Day to keep a promise of a healthier lifestyle.

Around 12,000 runners including national athletes leading the way are expected to join the Philippine Sports Commission's “Run for Your Heart” as the culmination of the agency's 20th anniversary.

The event, which also coincides with the celebration of the Chinese New Year, will start at 6 a.m. It will kick off in front the Rizal Monument and will end at the Quirino Grandstand for the 10-kilometer race.

PSC chairman Harry Angping said the event is the agency's way of reaching to the grassroots and making the masses aware of the importance of sports and physical fitness.

“This fun run is not only promoting wellness and a healthy lifestyle but also camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants,” he said.

Registration is still ongoing at the PSC Administrative Division in Manila from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. until February 13. On-site registration on February 14 begins at 4 a.m. at the registration booths installed at the Quirino Grandstand.

Races on tap are in the 3k, 5k, and 10k categories with registration fee of P100 for the 5k run and P200 for the 10k event. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
