THE Hugpong Alliance led by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will double its efforts in ensuring victory for its senatorial bets.

This is following the recently-released Pulse Asia survey results taken from December 14 to 21, 2018.

“When we saw the survey, we feel the need to work and push harder for our endorsed candidates. We need to support them more,” she said.

She added that candidates who need more promotions are Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito Estrada, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos, former special assistant to the president Bong Go, and former Presidential Political Adviser Francis Tolentino. These senatorial bets are currently ranked in ninth to 16th places; eighth to 15th; 14th to 16th; and 17th to 18th, respectively.

“I will try to campaign outside Davao but I cannot commit to be there for them always because I also have other work to do (as mayor),” the mayor said, adding she will be appearing in one of Imee’s campaign advertisment as promised.

The non-commissioned nationwide survey revealed that Senator Grace Poe has kept her lead over other senatorial candidates in the May 2019 elections with 75.6 percent support of respondents, followed by Senator Cynthia Villar.

Senator Sonny Angara and Taguig City Representative Pia Cayetano, meanwhile, shared third to fourth slots.

In fifth to seventh places were former senator Lito Lapid, Senator Nancy Binay, and Senator Aquilino Pimentel III.

The poll was based on face-to-face interviews of 1,800 representative adults 18 years old and above. It has an error margin of plus or minus 2.3 percentage points at the 95 percent confidence level.

In October last year, Hugpong Alliance endorsed 14 senatorial bets. Among the candidates are Marcos (Nacionalista Party); JV Estrada (Nationalist People's Coalition); Go (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan or PDP-Laban); Tolentino (PDP-Laban); Pilar Juliana "Pia" Cayetano (Nacionalista Party); Cynthia Villar; Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa (PDP-Laban); Zajid "Dong" Mangudadatu (PDP-Laban); Jose "Jinggoy" Estrada (Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino); Aquilino Martin “Koko” Pimentel III (PDP-Laban); Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara (Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino); Herminio "Harry" Roque Jr.(People's Reform Party); Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr(LAKAS); and Rodrigo "Jiggy" Manicad Jr. (IND).

Hugpong Alliance is an alliance of the two regional parties Hugpong ng Pagbabago and Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod. (ASP)
