Health, hospital services get bulk of 2019 budget

HEALTH and hospital services, one of President Rodrigo Duterte’s major priorities, remained the area which got the bulk of the 2019 budget.

The Health, Nutrition, and Hospital Services got P1.16 billion or 54 percent of the total P2.15 billion allotted for the social services sector.

The budget would pave the way for the completion of the two satellite hospitals in barangays Tablon and Lumbia in Cagayan de Oro City.

Construction of both hospitals started last year. The satellite hospitals were built as officials here noted an increasing number of patients particularly in the city-run JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH).

The hospitals would mean decongestion for the JRBGH and convenience for the residents living in the western and eastern part of the city.

Aside from the hospitals, Mayor Oscar Moreno is also planning to add more health centers in remote areas of Cagayan de Oro. The health centers, he said, provide affordable health services especially to the poor.
