Sinulog participants get medical insurance

THE Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) has availed of medical insurance for 20,000 persons who are participating in the Sinulog activities.

Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, SFI executive committee chairman, said the dancers are also covered in the insurance.

“If in case naay panghitabo, naa dayon silay kadaganan ug makatabang dayon ta (if there is an incident, they can avail of this and we can help out),“ he said.

SFI tapped Malayan Insurance Inc., which has a package that includes hospitalization, accidental death, unprovoked murder and other injuries within 10 days.

The other persons covered by the insurance are the members of the military and police, volunteers, government employees, doctors, nurses, disaster response team personnel and persons issued with SFI identification cards who are involved in the preparations for the Sinulog Grand Parade.

They will also consider including personnel assigned at the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño.

Tumulak said the term of insurance started on Friday, Jan. 11, and will expire on Monday, Jan. 21.

SFI first availed of the insurance package for the Sinulog in 2018, covering 10,000 persons.

Despite the insurance, Tumulak said the Sinulog security personnel, volunteers and dancers should take care of themselves to avoid landing in hospitals. From PAC of Superbalita Cebu / KAL
