Horizons to hold Vertical Run

RUNNERS who want a unique racing experience are in for a treat with the Horizons 101 Vertical Run 2019 on Jan. 26 at the Horizons 101 on Gen. Maxilom Ave.

Instead of the usual road race, runners will be faced with a tough challenge of running up and down the two towers of the Horizons 101, the tallest condominium in Cebu City.

“What better way to announce the opening of Horizons 101 with the Vertical Run,” said Taft Properties CP and chief operating officer Myra Lynn Gilig.

The race has three categories: the Full Challenge, the Half Climb and the Relay Race.

In the Full Challenge, runners will run up 55 floors of Tower 1, go back down, run up 46 floors of Tower 2, run down to the ninth floor and finish at the Amenity Deck. It will only be 55 floors up and down the Half Climb, while the Relay Race will be a team of two with one running up and down 55 floors, while the other will run the 46 floors of Tower 2.

“I’m a runner myself and it’s a new challenge. A lot of active athletes joined the recent Spartan race and it should be the same with the Vertical Run. It’s not common,” said Rona Lacanlale, Taft Properties project development officer.

In the inaugural Vertical Run last year, 150 runners competed in the unique race. This year organizers expect the number to reach around 250 runners.

“We received several comments on our FB page that they want to try something different,” said Taft Properties marketing manager Mary Ann Ramirez.

“Events like these are already gaining popularity in Singapore and also in Manila,” said race director Joel Baring.

Registration fee is P1,000 for the Full Challenge, P850 for the Half Climb and P1,800 for the Relay Race. EKA
