Pangan: A formidable opponent

THE mayoralty race in Mabalacat City will be a close fight between incumbent City Mayor Crisostomo C. Garbo and sitting City Vice Mayor Christian C. Halili.

The latter is a son of the legendary mayor Fred C. Halili whose service record can only be matched by the previous mayor Marino "Boking" Morales who was ousted in 2016.

Christian is a charismatic and forceful speaker and delights his audience with funny one-liners and anecdotes.

But beyond the facade of lightheartedness is the character, hardworking and sincere and is always ready to lend an ear to his constituents.

Born on September 3, 1979 to spouses former mayor Wilfredo "Fred" C. Halili and Rosita C. Halili, Christian is married to Charo B. Halili and has five children: Cedric Alfred, Celestine Fiona, Calvin Thirdy, Chyster Gabriel and Celine Kirsten.

Christian finished his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from De La Salle University, coming from St. Anthony College of Technology for his secondary education.

He has served the government, first, as City Councilor from 2004 to 2013 for three terms and as Vice Mayor from July 2013 up to the present.

He has presided at the Sangguniang Panlungsod and has had remarkable legislation, foremost of which is the Traffic Code. Other significant legislations awaiting his (and members of the SP) action are the Investment Code and the Anti-Human Trafficking Code.

Should he win the mayoralty, Christian will surely follow the style of governance of his deceased father and endear himself further to the MabalaqueƱos.
