Masbad: How about a Hackintosh?

SAY what?

A Hackintosh. Basically, it’s running macOS on a computer system other than that of Apple’s. It’s a hack. Back in the day, this was quite hard to do or wasn’t done at all because Apple was using PowerPC chips. When they shifted to Intel, that opened up a world of possibilities. That meant that, in theory, Apple’s OS can be run on a machine that’s originally meant to run Windows OS. Of course, that meant a lot of trials and errors by people the world over. Suffice to say that at this time and age, a lot of computer enthusiasts build for themselves a Hackintosh.

Why?

Lots of reasons. One reason is performance. Many are quick to point out that if a Hackintosh machine is built and put together well, that can go toe-to-toe or outperform one, two or three models of any of Apple’s iMacs or Macbook Pros or Mac Pros. And one of the best reasons out there is that it’s cheaper to build a Hackintosh than buy a completely built iMac or Macbook Pro.

There are so many other pros and votes for building a Hackintosh. And there are also a lot of cons and votes against it. For one, your technical skills will need to be in the intermediate level. If you don’t know anything about putting together computer components, it’s best that you let a professional do it for you. And if you can’t afford to pay a pro, have an experienced friend do it.

If you really want to do it yourself, prepare yourself to spend a lot of time putting it all together. Patience is a virtue. Also, make sure you set a budget for it to avoid a potential quarrel with the wife or girlfriend or husband or boyfriend. Once you have that locked down, there’s a ton of videos to be found on YouTube discussing the topic. However, I would totally recommend that you visit tonymacx86’s website and pour some time reading through the guides there. It’s chockfull of the necessary info you’ll need to build your own Hackintosh. It even has a comprehensive list of components compatible with macOS that you’ll need to buy d epending on your budge

Anyway, let me share with you several YouTube videos talking about a Hackintosh.
