61 barangays join business one-stop shop

BACOLOD City executive assistant Samuel Montoyo said Sunday, January 13 the participation of the 61 barangays for the City’s Business One-Stop-Shop (Boss) at the Bacolod Government Center (BGC) is now 100 percent.

Montoyo, member of Anti-Red Tape Act Core Team, said all the representatives of the 61 barangays were present at the BGC last week, but they will continue monitoring their attendance.

He said they will monitor the tardiness of the barangay representatives to ensure that they will accommodate the taxpayers who will secure a business barangay clearance.

“We will monitor their attendance because it’s their responsibility to serve our taxpayers,” he added.

Montoyo noted that there were taxpayers complaining that some of the barangay representatives were late to report at BGC.

He said his team will check the attendance of the barangay representatives starting at 8:30 a.m. until afternoon.

Montoyo earlier announced that the erring village chiefs that fail to join the Boss will be fined and charged administratively.

The Boss aims to provide convenience and accessibility to the taxpayers. It includes representatives from the City Health Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Office of the Building Official, Environment and Natural Resources Office, and the barangays for the signing of business owner clearances that operates in Bacolod.

Last week, the City Council approved the extension of the Boss and the deadline of payment for business permits from January 20 to February 28.

The extension of the Boss was requested by Mayor Evelio Leonardia after he received a letter from Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry asking him for the extension of the filing of permits and deadline of the first quarter payment of business tax.

The mayor then endorsed the request to the City Council, being the body that can allow the said extension.

From January 20 to February 28, the business owners who are processing their business permits for renewal will not be charged with 25 percent surcharge or penalties. (MAP)
