Minglanilla, Talisay keep perfect record in Gullas Cup

MINGLANILLA and Talisay City continue to sizzle in the Samsam Gullas Cup 3.0 “Legacy Cup” after picking up their third straight win last Sunday, Jan. 13, in Sibonga.

Minglanilla, last year’s runner-up, crushed Naga, 76-55.

Patrick John Dobleros put up 20 points, three rebounds, three assists and four steals to steer Minglanila to victory. Ryzel Gilbuena added 10 markers and two steals.

Marl Vhic Delantes led Naga with 19 points and three boards, while Shakem Jude Algamo logged a double-double with 10 markers and 10 rebounds.

Talisay City, on the other hand, beat host Sibonga, 75-64.

Jay Deiparine exploded with 23 points, four rebounds, two dimes and three steals. Keaton Clyde Taburnal added 19, while Raffy Bacasmas had 16 markers, seven boards and four steals.

Frederick Rosales led Sibonga with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists. John Clarenz Sonsona chipped in 15 markers, four boards, five steals and a block.

Talisay City won back-to-back games over the weekend after beating defending champion San Fernando, 87-72, last Saturday, Jan. 12.

Carcar City also logged two victories over the weekend, a 80-73 win over Naga last Saturday and a 74-55 beating of San Fernando on Sunday.

Minglanilla and Talisay City are both unbeaten at 3-0. Carcar City is third with a 2-1 record, Sibonga is fourth at 1-2, while Naga and San Fernando are at the bottom with identical 0-3 slates. (EKA)
