TAGUIG City Representative Pia Cayetano said competing in the 2019 Alveo Ironman 70.3 Davao on March 24 will be up to her teammates Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and Compostela Valley Governor Jayvee Tyron Uy.

She along with Duterte-Carpio and Uy were registered in the relay team event of the race for Davao City's Life is Here team.

Uy will swim the 1.9-kilometer course at Azuela Cove while Cayetano will then see action in the 90-kilometer bike stage and Duterte-Carpio will do the final stage, which is the 21K run.

"It's up to my teammates. I have been doing this for a long time (cycling). Di naman talaga ako nag-jujoin ng long distance in the middle of the campaign," Cayetano said in a media interview on the sidelines of the 4th Pinay in Action (PIA) Cup ladies football tournament at Tionko field, Barangay 76-A, in Matina, Davao City Saturday, January 12.

The seasoned triathlete said she was invited to join and bike for the team, adding, "But it's up to them kasi sila yung first timers kung tuloy, tuloy kasi pare-pareho kaming busy we'll all be campaigning so best efforts na makatrain mi og makaapil (for us to join), kung hindi naman (makapag-train), sige nalang for fun, bahala na."

She also said that she's been riding a bike even during campaigns so it would not be an added burden for her.

"Kasama sa kampanya to get from here to another municipality. I understand syempre for Governor Ty... and for Mayor Inday Sara sure win sya pero of course daghan iyang work (she has tons of work) and campaign sya sa ibang candidates and HNP, she'll be busy. Whatever she decides," the congresswoman ended.
