THE contingent from the municipality of Tagoloan last Friday, January 11, was adjudged champion in the Kuyamis Dance Festival Competition and bagged two of the four special awards held at the Misamis Oriental Integrated Sports Complex in Cagayan de Oro City.

The champion team received P100,000 cash. An additional P10,000 each from the special awards, Best in Costume and Best in Storyline, was also given to them.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Binuangan was awarded P75,000 as the second placer. The team also won Best in Choreography.

The municipality of Sugbongcogon, on the other hand, won P50,000 as third placer and was the recipient of the special awards Best in Street Dancing and Best in Musicality.

Apart from the cash prizes, all of the winning teams also received trophies.

Thirteen participants from various municipalities of Misamis Oriental competed last Friday.

Lawyer Jeffrey Saclot, the Provincial Tourism head, expressed joy in knowing that there were more participants in this year's Kuyamis Festival Dance Competition for there were only six contingents that participated in the last year's event.

Despite of the rain experienced during the Festival Dance Competition, which is one of the highlights of the Kuyamis Festival, the participants all braved the weather and danced along the streets and performed their Tableau Presentation to the cheering audiences.
