THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) awarded 76 rebel returnees benefits under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip).

Aside from cash assistance, some former rebels also received firearms remuneration depending on the kind of firearms turned over to the authorities. Some received an initial P25, 000 remuneration for low-powered firearms, while P50,000 for high-powered firearms from the City Mayor’s Office (CMO) Monday, January 14, at the Grand Menseng Hotel, Davao City.

During the event, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio told the former rebels that the government is thankful for their positive response to the call to work together for the development of the City and their family and children.

“Kaniadto, kung nakahinumdom mo, naa na’y mga ingon ani but karon mas gipa-enhance, mas gipadaghan ang mga benefits under President kay gusto niya nga ang mga tawo productive (There were also grants like this before but this time, it is enhanced with more benefits under President Rodrigo Duterte since he wanted the people to be productive),” Duterte-Carpio said.

“Dili na magdagan-dagan sa bukid, magdala-dala og baril nga walay ginabuhat. Mao ang gusto sa Presidente mao na nga enhanced, daghan na kaayo ang benefits (He also wanted that people not to roam around the mountain carrying guns, doing nothing that is why the program is enhanced with more benefits),” she added.

The grant received by the former rebels were immediate assistance of P15,000, livelihood assistance of P50,000, and reintegration assistance of P21,000.

Also, safety and security guarantee from the local government unit (LGU) and the Philippine National Police (PNP); support of relocation from the LGU; Philippine Health Insurance Corporation enrollment under Pamana-sponsored program with full benefits on hospitalization; registration to government entities; availment of services in Kalinaw village; healing and other reconciliation initiatives from the CSSDO; and other additional assistance.
