720 Japanese visit Iloilo City

SOME 720 Japanese tourists on board MV Pacific Venus will be visiting Iloilo City, and 400 of them will be witnessing the Kasadyahan and Dinagyang Ati tribes’ competitions at Dinagyang Grandstand at Muelle Loney on January 26 to 27.

“The visit will not only promote Dinagyang Festival but will also boost the tourism industry because they will be roaming around the city,” City Tourism Officer Junel Ann Divinagracia said.

The first cruise ship to arrive at Loboc International Port in Lapuz district on January 26 has 183 crew who are mostly Filipinos.

City Tourism and Development Office (CTDO) and Department of Tourism (DOT)-Western Visayas will organize a city tour for the visitors.

“DOT Regional Director Atty. Helen Catalbas and I are planning on how to give a warm welcome to visitors so that they would feel comfortable during their stay here. They will tell other Japanese about our festival and accommodation. This will result to more visitors and make Iloilo as cruise ship destination,” Divinagracia said.

She encouraged small medium enterprises to put up their stalls at port to sell their products. (PR)
