Pacya: Reviewing and updating plans

A GOAL without a plan is a wish (a waste, too).

Based on the three-year La Trinidad Co-op Development Plan, 92 percent of the identified programs, projects and activities was accomplished from 2016-2018.

On January 18 to 19 -- the year of the pig, the cooperative stakeholders of the valley will revisit the plan. This will give way to the additional activities that are essential in the achievement of the common goal of co-ops that is uplifting the lives of its members.

The brainstorming among the key players will also accommodate the newly introduced legislation for the sector. Recently, the legislators of the capital town passed and approved the ordinance institutionalizing the celebration of the cooperative month. The ordinance establishing the co-op livelihood loan assistance is still on its final reading.

For cooperative leaders and members, these are some of the information on the lined-up co-op activities in the municipality, which will be considered in the planning workshop.

REQUIREMENTS SUBMISSION ASSISTANCE. This is an annual activity where co-ops are invited to a one-day workshop. The local government unit rents a computer shop and co-ops are guided in entering and submitting their data into the online submission system of their Annual Progress Report to the Cooperative Development Authority.

CAPABILITY BUILDING. This activity aims to capacitate cooperative officers to manage efficiently the operation of cooperatives and to provide training to micro cooperatives in complying with the mandatory training requirements for officers. This is in partnership with the Co-op Development Authority.

COOP CONGRESS. This event aims to call together the stakeholders of the sector to address issues and concerns confronting the cooperatives. During the event, product and service promotion is also integrated through a trade fair.

LIVELIHOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. Only micro co-ops are qualified to apply for this non-interest loan. This will help finance and sustain their contemplated livelihood programs associated with the pursuit of living their lives in a state of contentment.

COOPLYMPICS. All cooperatives are invited to submit their entries in this sports fest. This was included in the activities to sharpen the athletic prowess and enhance sportsmanship character among the players.

GAWAD PARANGAL. This is an incentives and awards program distinguishing the top performing cooperatives in the locality. Their best practices and innovative programs are recognized. The application is open to all operating co-ops in La Trinidad.

MANDATORY AND OPTIONAL TRAININGS. There will be trainings on Basic Co-op Course and Co-op Management and Governance. These are the CDA mandatory trainings to be taken by all cooperative officers. Other trainings will be conducted to address the specific needs of the group.

With the different needs of the co-ops, planning or re-planning is necessary, continuous improvement and innovations are requirements in getting the best solutions.
