INTERFACE Development Interventions (Idis) executive director Chinkie Pelino-Golle urged property developers to consider “greener” options when building their structures.

Golle said alongside with the inevitable progress of the city, builders and business establishment owners must not forget the environment.

“Kami sa Idis gina-encourage namo ang business infrastructures to choose also greener options like using renewable energy para makasource sa ilang power for example. Kay in this way mas mahimong sustainable and environment-friendly ang ilang establishments (We at Idis encourage businesses to also choose greener options like using renewable energy as their power source. In this way, their projects are more sustainable and environment-friendly),” Golle said.

“For infrastructure, we have the green building code ng Davao City. Sa green building code ang ginaingon dira kay of course dapat naay renewable energy na gamiton like solar panels. Dapat naa puy rain-catching system. Kini dapat ginagamit pud ang gisalud na tubig-ulan as a non-potable water alternative (In the green building code what is stated is of course the use of renewable energy like solar panel must be observed. Also establishment must have a rain-catching system. The stored rainwater must be used as a non-potable water alternative),” Golle said.
