9 nabbed for drugs, gun ban violation

NINE members of a suspected gun-for-hire criminal gang were arrested for violation of the Republic Act 10591 in violation of Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines and possession of illegal drugs during a police operation Monday evening, January 14.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG's) Davao City Field Unit Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz said that about 8 p.m. on January 14, operatives of CIDG Davao City together with the Philippines Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA 11) and Bunawan PS launched an operation in line with CIDG’s Oplan Paglalansag Omega.

The operation sought to apprehend violators of the Omnibus Election Code and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The target of the operation were the members of "Escudero CG" involved in gun for hire, gun running, and operations of illegal drugs operating in Davao Norte, Compostela Valley, and neighboring provinces and cities within Davao region.

The team conducted the entrapment operation at Maharlika Highway, Kilometer 25 in Bunawan, Davao City where one of the suspects identified as Loueje Roxas alias Luigi, 33, single and a resident of Feder Road 1, Sto. Tomas Davao del Norte sold one big pack transparent plastic sachet of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, weighing around 55 grams worth P660,000 to an undercover operative.

His other cohorts identified as Benito Kabingui, Richard Deldia, Christian Domingo, Aldin Flores, Ronald Flores, Ramel Pioquinto, Jay Sultan and Gary Micabani were also arrested.

Recovered from the possession and control of the suspects were one piece large sachet containing suspected shabu (buybust item); one big sachet containing suspected shabu; two pieces medium sachets containing suspected shabu; one small sachet containing suspected shabu; one unit .40 caliber pistol with one magazine loaded with eight.40 live ammunition.

Also recovered were one unit .9mm caliber pistol with magazine loaded with 14 .9mm live ammos; one unit .45 caliber revolver loaded with five .45 live ammos; one .38 caliber revolver loaded with five .38 live ammunition; one unit multi caliber suppressor; one unit Toyota Fortuner, color white with plate no. LGG 717; one unit Nissan Navara, color orange with plate number FO Q853; and one bundle of boodle money with one P1,000 bill.
