Police chief files extension of leave

AN OFFICIAL of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao said Tuesday, January 15, that ambush survivor Police Superintendent Michael John Deloso applied for an extension of sick leave for another month.

PRO-Northern Mindanao spokesperson Superintendent Surki Serenas said Deloso did not report for duty when his leave of absence lapsed last January 9, as he immediately asked an additional 30 days sick leave.

Serenas said there was an advice from Deloso's physician that he should take more rest to fully recover from the multiple gunshot wounds he sustained after he survived an attempt on his life last November 20.

"There is a medical/doctor's advice," Serenas said.

However, Deloso's application was not yet approved as the leave application is still being processed by the Regional Personnel and Human Resources and Development Division (RPHRDD) in Camp Alagar.

The process includes receipt of leave application, checking of available leave applicable, endorsement of immediate supervisor, recommending approval of RPHRDD chief and approval of the police regional director.

“Pero most likely ma-approve siya. If needed Superintendent Deloso could still avail of extended sick leave or other authorized leave,” Serenas said.

On the other hand, Deloso has already filed frustrated murder charges in court against two fellow police whom he suspects to have a hand in the ambush.
