DOT launches dive tourism in Misamis Oriental

THE Department of Tourism (DOT)-Northern Mindanao Director Marie Elaine Unchuan has announced that they have launched dive tourism in Misamis Oriental.

“The presence of pristine coral reefs and mountains even numerous sightings of our whales sharks, dolphins, and marine life is a testament to how clean and healthy our eco-tourism system is," she added.

Unchuan said the dive sites in Misamis Oriental were featured in the recently concluded international Dive Resort Travel Show in Manila, which has put the province in the preferred list of dive destination in the country.

As such, it will increase the dive tourism arrival in the province.

Misamis Oriental Governor, Yevgeny Emano, for his part, said he is willing to spend money to help promote the province as a dive destination, especially as it will help in the tourism industry and the economy of Misamis Oriental.

The provincial governor said the areas considered as diving sites in Misamis Oriental include the Gingoog Bay and Macajalar Bay.

Apart from the dive tourism, DOT-Northern Mindanao has also launched farm tourism and food tourism and has increased its promotions in the faith tourism in the province in 2018, according to Unchuan.

“The Department of Tourism is inspired and driven to achieve more this year and in the years of to come,” Unchuan said.

“We reiterate our commitment to do our utmost best to constantly take part in the success of tourism development,” she added.
