A total of 10 former Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) players are a step closer into playing in the Philippines’ premier pro league after being drafted in the PBA D’League last Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Leonard Santillan of De La Salle University (DLSU) was the highest Cesafi product picked in the draft. Santillan, who once played for the University of the Visayas (UV), was chosen second overall by the Marinerong Pilipino just behind Asean Basketball League (ABL) mainstay Joshua Munzon, who was picked first overall by AMA Online Education.

Former Cesafi MVP Rey Suerte of UV was picked by Che’Lu Bar and Grill as the no. 4 pick in the third round. Current Cebu City Sharks big man William McAloney, who was chosen in the second round, joins Suerte in Che’Lu along with his Sharks teammate Victor Nuñez, University of San Carlos’ John Reel Saycon and former Southwestern University (SWU) guard Jasper Parker.

Another Sharks player who was picked is RJ Dinolan, who’ll be playing for Trinity. The other Cesafi products who were drafted are former UV Baby Lancer Orlan Wamar by Marinerong Pilipino, ex-Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu player Rev Diputado by McDavid and former UV guard Jun Manzo by Dilliman College.
