'High-value target' drug suspect shot dead in Negros

A LEVEL two high-value target drug personality was shot to death by two unidentified motorcycle-riding assailants in Barangay 1, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, January 16.

Killed was Joey Nillosan, 40, of Barangay Quiwi.

Chief Inspector Jake Barila, town police chief, said Nillosan was sitting in front of a motorcycle shop when one of the assailants alighted from the motorcycle and fired at him at close range.

Nillosan succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on his head. The perpetrators who were wearing helmets fled.

Police recovered from the scene a fired bullet of .45 caliber pistol.

Barila said failed illegal drug transaction was being eyed as the motive.

Police also recovered from the compartment of Nillosan’s motorcycle two sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P120,000.

Nillosan was released from jail in October 2018 after his drug charges were dismissed.

Barila said the victim had previously surrendered to the authorities but he continued his illegal drug trade.

In September 2017, Nillosan was arrested in a buy-bust which resulted in the recovery of P100,000 worth of illegal drugs, three .45 caliber pistols with magazines, and drug paraphernalia.

In June 2017, he also yielded P13,000 worth of illegal drugs in the said town.

All the charges against him were dismissed by the prosecutor’s office. (GYM)
