SEVERAL roads in Cebu City will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, January 19, for the solemn procession of the image of Sto. Niño.
The Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) announced that a portion of Osmeña Blvd., Burgos St., Urdaneta St., M.J. Cuenco Ave., New Imus Road, Gen. Maxilom Ave., and Fuente Osmeña Circle will not be accessible starting 10 a.m. until the procession will be finished.
CCTO will reroute all vehicles that will pass by these areas.
But even before the 10 a.m. closure, the CCTO will conduct a clearing and towing of vehicles and other obstructions along the procession starting 6 a.m.
Public utility jeepneys (PUJ) from Bulacao, Pardo and Basak passing along N. Bacalso Ave. will have to proceed to V. Rama Extension and will have to proceed to Tres de Abril St., to Lakandula St., to C. Padilla St., to Panganiban St. and Tupas St.
Other PUJs from Bulacao, Pardo, Alumnos, Inayawan and Basak passing along C. Padilla St. will have to access Carlock St.
Public and private vehicles coming from Banawa, Capitol, Guadalupe, and Oppra passing along Osmeña Blvd. will have to take J. Llorente St., and Mariano Cui St.
PUJs coming from Banawa, and Guadalupe, passing V. Rama Ave. and B. Rodriguez St. will have to access Katipunan St., A. Lopez St., Tres de Abril St., and portion of N. Bacalso Ave.
PUJs coming from Lahug, Apas and Plaza Housing passing along N. Escario St. will have to access Juana Osmeña St., and J. LLorente St., while those coming from Mabolo, including 03B, while traversing along Juan Luna Ave., will have to go straight to Soriano Ave., Gen. Maxilom Extension, D. Gaisano St., T. Padilla St., S. Osmeña Ave., Gen. Maxilom Extension, J.C. Veyra St. and to Juan Luna Ave.
PUJs coming from the south going to SM City Cebu will have to take F. Llamas St., Katipunan St., R. Duterte St., M. Velez St., N. Escario St., Gorordo Ave., Salinas Drive straight to Juan Luna Ave., then to their destination.
In going back, they will have to access Juan Luan Ave., Salinas Drive, Gorordo Ave., N. Escario St., M. Velez St., proceed to R. Duterte St., then to their point of origin.
Trucks, vans, trailers and other vehicles coming from the south going to SM City Cebu or to North Area and vice versa will have to access South Coastal Road, going to the tunnel and Serging Osmeña Blvd.
