WITH few minor details and preparations to be ironed out, organizers gave a green light to the staging of the 63rd National Private Schools Athletics Association (Prisaa) Games 2019 in Davao City on May 19 to 24.

National Prisaa president Ma. Lita Montalban, who was a guest during Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao, declared, “Everything is set.”

She said the National Prisaa Board had a coordination meeting with other line agencies last December 10.

The executive also initiated the reorganization of the National Prisaa management structure.

“Whoever hosts the National Prisaa Games will run the whole show and all regional Prisaa presidents will be chairpersons of different sports. They will oversee the games para hindi magkaproblema. I, myself, will be in charge of basketball,” Montalban, who was accompanied by executive secretary Lourdes Mission, added.

According to her, Prisaa-Davao executive director Joaquin Sarabia of the University of Mindanao will manage the technical side of the national meet. “He is the executive director of the National Prisaa Games.”

Montalban, owner and president of Emar Human and Environmental College, also said that the Department of Education (DepEd) through regional director Alberto Escobarte and DepEd Davao City superintendent Maria Ines C. Asuncion, are ready to host some 7,500 athletes and coaches from 17 participating regions in different public schools here.

New ground rules in different sports were also undertaken during the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Davao City Prisaa Meet is set last week of February at UM Matina while the Prisaa-Davao Regional Meet is slated first week of April in Tagum City.
