CASES were filed against a woman Thursday, tagged as one of the big time drug traffickers operating in Marawi City, after attempting to sneak in 25 grams of “shabu” with estimated value of P375,000 at a Task Force Davao (TFD) Checkpoint in Barangay Lacson, Calinan, Davao City on Wednesday.

Noli Nephi Dimaandal, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Davao Region information officer, said they initially received the information of the suspect identified as Papaladun M. Disamberen, 37, and a resident of Barangay Basak, Malutlut, Marawi City through a text message in their hotline number.

After validating the information from a concerned citizen and conducting casing and surveillance on her, Disamberen was netted by joint elements of Pdea and TFD troopers at 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday while on board a Public Utility Van.

Disamberen, who is included in the drug watchlist personality, was arrested by a PDEA agent at the inspection area for transporting six sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu”, weighing more or less 25 grams with a street value of P375,000.

The suspect was with her five-year-old child when the arrest happened, citing that it has been their modus to use children as to not appear suspicious before the checkpoint. Disamberen is considered one of the sources of illegal drugs in Davao City with the amount of drugs she brought. Dimaandal said that she took the risk of carrying it here because the price of drugs amounted to P12,000 per grams.

She is currently detained at the Pdea 11 detention facility while the seized suspected illegal drugs were submitted to Laboratory Service office for laboratory examination.

She is facing charges for violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“This collaborative effort of the Pdea Regional Office 11, Task Force Davao and the Davao City Police Office to serve as a warning to all drug perpetrators that Pdea Regional Office 11, Task Force Davao and the community are closely working together and always vigilant in the fight against illegal drugs,” Dimaandal said.
