Capitol distributes P21.9-M aid to towns, barangays

THE Iloilo Provincial Government distributed a total of P21,989,611 financial assistance to several towns and barangays in all five districts in the province.

Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. led the distribution of the checks on Thursday, January 17, at Casa Real de Iloilo.

The assistance covers the establishment of new school-based multi-purpose teen centers in the towns of Igbaras, Miagao, Alimodian, Badiangan, Maasin, Carles, and Concepcion totaling to P2.3 million.

While aid to barangays varies from the improvement of Day Care Center; concreting of roads and road canal; construction of multi-purpose hall, footwalk, streetlighting system, hanging bridge, multi-purpose pavement, tanod outpost, and tourist lounge; installation of street lights; purchase of monoblock chairs, toilet bowls, electric motor pumps, closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, computer sets, and school uniforms; sports development activities for Sangguniang Kabataan; socio-cultural activities; and cash award, among others.

Governor Defensor said the financial assistance is free of political color.

“I don’t ask for your political affiliation before I approve the project...I approve these programs because I know that they are not for personal use but for the welfare of the people,” he said. (PR)
