Del Rosario: Life

WE OFTEN thank God for the gift of life.

What is life? When does it start and when does it end?

I know my life started when I was conceived in my mother’s womb. But we count the years or the days from the time we were born into this earth. And we celebrate our birth annually on said date. I also know that our temporary time on this earth ends when we stop breathing.

We often hear people say: “life is short”, “make the most of life”, “life is meaningless”, “life is burdensome”, “life is awesome”, etc., depending on the state, stage, situation, or perspective of life they maintain.

Let us ponder on a dozen words of wisdom on “life”:

1. To make a living is good, but to make life worth living is better.

2. We want to add years to our life, but it is better to add life to our years.

3. When we give someone our time, we give a portion of our life that we can never take back. We can produce more wealth, but we cannot produce more time.

4. Life is a book. Two pages are written by God. The first page is about our birth, and the last page is about our death. The middle pages are empty. It is for US to fill up.

5. Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% how you respond to it.

6. Life must be lived forward, but it can only be understood backwards.

7. Love the life you live, and live the life you love.

8. A man is not old, until regrets take the place of his dreams. Keep Dreaming.

9. The best things in life aren’t things.

10. In 3 words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

11. Life is better when you are laughing.

12. Learn to be happy with what you have, while you pursue all that you want.

Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

My Dearest Family and Friends,

Albert Einstein said, “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.”

When I am in Baguio and the weather is fine, I ride my 20 plus years old bike each morning. It keeps me moving.

Biking not only keeps me physically fit, it gives me time to refresh, to recharge and to feel the wind on my face. It gives me time to count my blessings, and to thank God for his boundless grace and mercy.

“May you live all the days of your life”
