Yong River Cruise

I’VE been in so many tours and travels in and out of Davao City but my second trip in China wrapped up with an eye-catching river cruise of the Yong River and it never disappointed us.

When I went to China for the first time, I had a somewhat negative impression as we left the capital city of Beijing due to its pollution, but it all came to past when we visited the Green City of China, Nanning.

On the eve of our seven-day stay in Nanning, we were treated by the municipal government to an exclusive river cruise tour at the Yong River also known as Yongjiang River, one of the main rivers in mainland China located at the southern part of the country near Vietnam.

It was my first time to be in a river cruise and as a photographer I thought that it will be just a dark and quite cruise so I packed my camera back inside my bag. But then, when the vessel started to separate from the dock, the lights started to dance at the other side of the river.

A kilometer-long LED wall placed near the river was the first spectacle that amazed all the guests on- board the ship, followed by the temples, bright skyline, and the five bridges namely Yongjiang Bridge, Taoyuan Bridge, Lingtie Bridge, Baisha Bridge, and Huluding Bridge which were all 3D mapped.

Despite the 11-degree temperature deck, my father and I stayed to feast our eyes on Nanning’s technicolored riverside and it was the first father and son bonding we’ve had after quite a while.

It is expected that the river cruise will be opened to the public. The best time to visit is during the start of winter and spring with the cold wind blowing together with the tide of the river.
