DAVAO Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2019 delegates were reminded to abide by the ordinances in Davao City, such as the smoking and liquor ban.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum, in an interview with SunStar Davao, said the delegates are not exempted from the rules and ordinances in the city. Violators would face penalties.

“I would like to remind all the athletes and the visitors to Davao City that we have a smoking ban in public places, liquor ban and we do not allow motorcycle riding without helmet and while under the influence of liquor,” Tagum said.

The sports meet will open on January 27.

Since most of the delegates are minors, Tagum also underscored the curfew ordinance that prohibits them from wandering in the streets between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. if unescorted by adult.

They are also reminded about the anti-jaywalking ordinance that is strictly implemented in the city.

Tagum, meanwhile, also said they already ironed out their security plan. Security forces based in Davao City like Task Force Davao and Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) will augment the city police coming from the Davao Police Regional Office (PRO 11).

“We have already prepared our plans to ensure that all the sports venues and the billeting areas of the athletes and their families and other visitors including the hotels and lahat ng papasyalan nila sa Davao City will be safe and secure,” Tagum said.

He assured that they will be on maximum security deployment of its personnel, double compared to their security last Davraa 2018, as they expect big personalities such as governors and mayors since the midterm election is drawing near.
