10% discount for business taxes payment extended in Bacolod

BUSINESSMEN in Bacolod City can still avail a 10 percent discount for the payment of business taxes or fees until February 28, Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairperson of the city council committee on laws, said Friday, January 18.

On Wednesday, the City Council approved an ordinance that grants 10 percent to all establishments that will renew their business permit until February 28 in full, aside from the exemption of the payment of 25 percent surcharges or penalty when the deadline was extended from January 20 to February 28.

“If they will pay before February 28, businessmen will not pay the 25 percent surcharges, for renewal, and will avail the 10 percent discount if they will pay in full,” Distrito said.

The City Council earlier approved the extension of the Business One-Stop-Shop (Boss) and the deadline of payment for business permits from January 20 to February 28.

From January 20 to February 28, the business owners who are processing their business permits for renewal will not be charged with 25 percent surcharge or penalties.

The Boss, which supposed to end on January 20, includes representatives from the City Health Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Environment and Natural Resources, and the barangays.

The Boss aims to provide convenience and accessibility to the taxpayers.

Distrito said this is part of their business-friendly strategy for the inconvenience of the taxpayers.

“We expect that it will increase the city’s business registration and collection this year,” he said.
