JESSIE Cris Rosales had a disappointing US debut after a fourth-round stoppage loss to former Olympian Shakur Stevenson on Saturday, January 19, at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York.
Stevenson caught Rosales with a counter left straight to the head in the fourth round. Rosales beat the count but was still wobbly, which forced the referee to stop the fight 1:29 mark.
The 21-year-old Stevenson won the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Inter-Continental and World Boxing Council (WBC) Continental Americas featherweight belt. The 2016 Olympics silver medalist remained unbeaten with 10-0 with six knockouts, while the 27-year-old Rosales dropped to 22-2-1 with 10 knockouts.
