24-person PHL team to join cash-rich BTA Sinulog Open

THE presence of national team bowlers is expected to spice up the 20th Sinulog Open National Tournament, set on Jan. 21 to 27 at the Gaisano Bowlingplex.

“Almost all the Philippine team players are playing. The top brass of the Philippine Bowling Federation (PBC), headed by Bong Coo, are also coming,” Bowling Tenpin Association (BTA)-Cebu president Bel Suelto Jr. told SunStar Cebu.

Suelto said that about 24 national team players are coming on top of the 20 former national players. About 120 players from different parts of the country will compete in the tournament that shells out a total of P458,000 in cash prizes.

The titles to be contested are Mixed Open, Mixed Classified, Mixed Seniors and Mixed Youth.

The Mixed Open champion will win P70,000 in cash, while P35,000, P17,500, P9,000 and P5,000 will go to the second to fourth placers, respectively. The sixth to eighth placers will get P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.

The Mixed Classified top players will go home P60,000 richer, while the second to eight placers will get P30,000, P15,000, P7,000, P5,000, P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.

The top three in the Mixed Seniors will win P60,000, P30,000 and P15,000. Cash prizes will also be given to the fourth to eight placers, while the top three in the Youth Division will get P20,000, P10,000 and P5,000, respectively.

“It is also the 20th anniversary of BTA-Prima Pasta Cebu, so we look forward for this edition to be more exciting,” said Suelto. (RSC)
