Misamis Oriental agri office to launch delivery app

THE Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental, through its Provincial Agriculture Office (Pagro), is planning to launch an application that will help in the delivery of goods from the farmers to buyers.

Pagro head Jose Apollo Pacamalan said the app will help record what kind and volume of products the registered farmers have. At the same time, the buyers can look into what goods they wanted to purchase.

Pacamalan said they are looking into launching the app after the election, with municipality and urban centers or markets as their target buyers.

"May app tayo sa provincial agriculture na doon titingnan pagsabihin nung buyer na 'I want 5 tons of carrots.' So merong supplier na naka-log. So gawin ng provincial agriculture is to package and deliver these goods doon sa market," he said.

The Pagro head said the Provincial Agriculture Office will handle the installing of the system, looking into the buyers, and transporting the goods from the farmers to the buyers.

As it involves delivery, the Pagro will be investing on vehicles, he added.

"The Provincial Government will link farmers to the market. This will facilitate and reduce the burden of the farmers in terms of transportation cost," Pacamalan said.

"By December this year, we will already have the application," he added.

Pacamalan also said that once the app will be launched, the area it will cover is within Cagayan de Oro City first.

If the demand for it will expand outside the city, then they will also be expanding the app's area of coverage, he added.

"And tingin namin in the near future, we'll be looking at partnering with the logistics organization to do the delivery. Una, we will do it by ourselves," Pacamalan said.
