AROUND 6,899 business permits were already issued by the Davao City Business Bureau as of January 19, 2018.

Davao City Business Bureau chief lawyer Marissa Torentera said the Business Bureau is expecting around 39,000 business permit renewals.

Based from last year’s data, the bureau recorded 39,514 business in the city.

She said they are hopeful the same number will still apply for business permits despite the possibility of some retiring.

Torentera also said a huge percentage of the issued business permits are for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

She is urging Dabawenyo business operators not to miss the deadline in renewing business permits by January 31.

Torentera said by renewing earlier, transactions in acquiring business permits will also be done earlier.

“This is also a way to reduce the influx of people who will be coming by the deadline,” she said.

Businesses who fail to renew permits on time will pay a fine of 25 percent of the business tax due plus two percent interest rate per month.

Torentera also said no deadline of extension will be made.

Meanwhile, Torentera said for Dabawenyos who do not want to get into long queues while renewing permits, the Business Bureau also has a remote site at the Davao City Recreation Center, popularly known as the Almendras Gym.

Based from the records of the Business Bureau as of January 19, the remote site catered 211 business permits renewals while the City Council where the Business Bureau office is, had 952 renewals.

“Our schedule of processing renewals is from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturdays from 8am to 5pm,” Torentera said.
