Mosquera shocks Celso in Tiger Black Brawl

MIGUEL Mosquera had a stunning performance against Brazilian Afonso Celso Jr. before the jam-packed crowd when he reigned in just 2:17 minutes of the opening round in the main event of the Tiger Black Brawl 2019 held January 19 at SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.

The Bacolod City-native Mosquera (7-3) shocked his 36-year-old Brazilian counterpart with a quick offensive attack at the start of the fight, grappled and launched massive strikes on Celso's face, forcing international referee Joey Lepiten to stop the contest.

"As I've said during the pre-match press conference, I will do my best to win this fight and sweep them all. And we did it tonight," 36-year-old Mosquera said during the post-fight interview. "I would like to thank the organizers of this fight for bringing a spectacular event here in Bacolod," added the fighter from 6100 Martial Arts and Fitness.

Meanwhile, Celso of the Catalan Fighting System of Manila, who was shocked by the result, dropped his record to 4-7.

In the main undercard, the 36-year-old Rex "The T-Rex" de Lara (9-6), fighting for Mumma, won over 30-year-old Rufino "Noypi" Mante (14-4) from Legacy Gym Boracay via disqualification. Mante hardly hit de Lara below his belt which unable him to stand and continue the fight as ring physician recommended to stop the contest.

On the other hand, veteran Victor "The Gladiator" Torre (10-3), originally from Bacolod but now residing in Cagayan de Oro and fighting off Mumma, brought the 20-year-old Bingbong Mayormito (5-1) to school in 2:56 minutes of the opening round by submission due to straight armbar.

Dr. Lean Torre, one of the organizers, expressed his gratitude to everyone who made the event successful. "We assure you that we will bring more exciting cards in the next fights."
