FORTY female persons deprived of liberty and 18 jail officers were tested negative for illegal drug use during the surprise drug test at the Metro Bacolod District Jail- female dormitory in Barangay Handumanan on Monday, January 21.

Inspector Maria Lorelie Dimaculangan, jail warden, said “it is clear that the jail is a drug-free facility,” but the operation alone will not render her and her personnel complacent.

Dimaculangan warned jail officers who will be caught involved in illegal drugs.

They should be ready because I would personally recommend their dismissal from service, she stressed.

Meanwhile, a greyhound operation was also conducted in all 10 dormitories in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and personnel from Police Station 10 led by Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas.

The inmates were subjected to frisking while their cells were simultaneously checked by the authorities.

The operation resulted in the confiscation of nuisance contraband or excessive items or materials inside their cells representing a threat to safety, security, and order of the facility.

Dimaculangan said she will continuously conduct regular greyhound operation to ensure that the jail will maintain its reputation as a drug-free jail facility. (GYM)
