It was a Diamond celebration for media personality Manny Rabacal on the first day of the year. Turning 75 is a milestone that his family, led by loving wife Josephine, would not let pass without a party. So a dinner affair it was (with “The Great Gatsby” theme) at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. Family and close friends were in happy attendance. Very much involved in the preparations were daughter Marjorie and husband Dennis Magadia, along with their sons Poch and Kodi, and her twin brother Manjo. Sorely missed was daughter Jade who is based in California, and who had work commitments, but she came weeks earlier to spend time with the family.

A lovely evening of music unfolded at the Lobby Lounge of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu when voice coach Chacha Blanco of Bel Cuore Voice Pro presented the Hearts and Melodies benefit concert in celebration of Bel Cuore’s second anniversary. The grateful beneficiaries were the San Carlos Seminary College and the Adoration Convent of Divine Peace (Pink Sisters).

Taking centerstage along with Chacha were her students and alumni who all sang so beautifully. Take a bow, Judemar Anora, Cherry Ann Archer, Cailtlin Balnco, Eli Cartagenas Rolette Escandor, Jodi Galbi, Alexandra Garcia, Kathlene Inso, Aveline Laurente, Georg Laurente, Gwenyth Lovelle, Philip Mancol, Hannah Maningo, Noey Medalle, Athessa Sagales, Drei Sanchez and Jehramae Trangia.

Kudos to accomplished mentor, Chacha Blanco.

Family bonding time meant a trip to Cebu for Ricardo “Boy” Tan and wife Virgie. From their home base in San Francisco, California, they came with bachelor son Richard, daughter Lally with husband Adrian Sangalang and their daughters Lexie and Serena. It was a memorable homecoming because they visited other places in the country including Camiguin, Palawan and Virgie’s hometown in Luzon.

One happy occasion was the yummy lunch hosted by Mandani Bay for media friends at The Pig & Palm. Playing hosts were project director Gilbert Ang and project adviser Jeffrey Lun. Yes, more buildings are sprouting up at the waterfront of Mandaue under the wings of Mandani Bay.

The grand opening of bai Hotel was a well-attended cocktail affair that was highlighted by a musical program headlined by Morisette Amon at the hotel’s Lapulapu Grand Ballroom. On the frontline was hotel general manager Alfred Reyes.

The Sky Lounge at Calyx Residences at the Cebu Business Park turned into a Louis Vuitton apartment when the exclusive brand displayed its products one weekend last month. LV lovers trooped to the place to take a good look.
