2 arrested, P3.4-M shabu seized in drug bust

OPERATIVES of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) backed by policemen arrested Tuesday, January 22, two suspected big-time drug personalities and seized some P3.4 million worth of illegal drugs in a drug bust in front of a fast food outlet near city hall.

Lawyer Jackelyn de Guzman, PDEA regional director, identified the suspects as Sarah Sawajaan alias Nurshan Limpahong, 36; and, Fatima Amerul alias Medilna Amirul, 40.

De Guzman said the suspects yielded 500 grams of suspected shabu packed in 10 large plastic sachets worth P3.4 million when they were arrested around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday.

It was the third biggest drug haul in Zamboanga City this year.

Also recovered from the suspects’ possession were P700,000 boodle money with one genuine P1,000 bill.

De Guzman said the suspects were detained while cases for violation of Section 5, in relation to Section 26, Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were being prepared against them.

On January 7, the PDEA arrested three people and confiscated some P3.4 million worth of suspected shabu at a pension house in the village of Canelar.

On the same day, two people were arrested along Rajah Soliman Street in Zone 4. Confiscated from them were some P3 million worth of suspected shabu. (Bong Garcia)
