RCB to close massage parlors with ‘extra service’

THE Regulatory and Complaint Board (RCB) has issued a stern warning to spa and massage clinics to stop its "extra service" offers to its clients otherwise they will face closure.

Lawyer Edgardo Uy, RCB co-chairman explained that, extra service leads to prostitution, which is illegal in the country.

Uy, however, clarified that performing sexual acts is not illegal, and can only be prohibited when it is done in public places, such as spa and massage clinics.

"If they want to do it, do it in a private room, not in massage clinics because these are public places. If they do it in massage places, then this means they are performing lewd sexual acts in public," Uy said.

Uy disclosed that they are set to visit one spa allegedly offering extra service.

"We still haven't recommended any massage clinics for closure, maybe just this one, once the documents will be completed, we will then decide," he added.

The RCB is continuing its visits in inns, motels, hotels, resorts, and other similar establishments to check compliance and encourage them to renew or apply business permits.
