Kidnappers free another hostage

SUSPECTED Abu Sayyaf bandits have freed a construction worker they abducted in the hinterlands of Sulu, a military official said Saturday.

First Lieutenant Steffani Cacho, Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) information officer, said the victim, Raja Halud, was freed around 7:30 p.m. Friday in Kapok Punggol village, Maimbung town.

Halud's release came two days after the release of his companion, Jalal Ali, a dump truck driver.

Halud and Ali were abducted last Monday in the village of Lunggang, Maimbung after the bandits burned the dump truck driven by Ali.

The two are workers of a Jolo-based construction firm that is undertaking a US-funded road construction project in Maimbung town.

Cacho could not provide other details about Halud's release, but said the victim is already at his residence in the village of Latih, Patikul town.
