ISLANDS Souvenirs was back in time for the Sinulog Festival. Only this year, it presented more ways to enjoy the party with added flair.

The brand’s biggest campaign, “Cut and Style 2019,” introduced limited edition Sinulog t-shirt designs and accessories for style savvy festival-goers to personalize their shirts to their hearts’ content. Completing the experience, services like hair color, hair braiding, face paint and nail art were available as well as—for the first time ever—the Do It Yourself Sinulog headdress, which paired well with the customized shirt.

Capping off the campaign was the much-awaited fashion show held at The Northwing atrium in SM City Cebu last Jan. 18. The program showed off personalized shirts, and designs by mentors and alumni of Fida (Fashion Institute of Design and Arts): Valerie Alvez, Edwin Alba, Edward

Castro, Percie Requiero, Yorena Tabar, Mel Maria, Lord Maturan, Philipp Tampus, Angela Dado and Bebes Garzo. Headdresses by Jongz Loquinario, styled by The Blaq Mafia, were also on display.

The fashion show presented this year’s ambassadors: Bb. Cebu 2018 Queen Steffi Rose Aberasturi together with her court: Bb. Cebu Heritage Lou Dominique Piczon, Bb. Cebu Charity Tracy Maureen Perez, Bb. Cebu Ecology Isabela Deutsch and Bb. Cebu Tourism Kim Covert. They were joined by celebrity guest and commercial model Tony Labrusca.

Completing the stars on the runway were Cebu’s set of young entrepreneurs, youngsters, fitness warriors, artists, sports champions, social media influencers and personalities.

The show presented a fusion of traditional and tribal aesthetics—a nod to the roots of the Sinulog Festival—complemented with vibrant colors, the lights and sounds of the mardi gras, and the feel of street parties.

Every year, “Cut and Style” shows its audience what Cebu is brimming with not just in terms of fashion but also its culture, lifestyle and its people.
