FOR Rolyn Cañedo, finding the perfect timing was crucial in her business.

The former local government employee shared how she finally found the right venture for her and husband Randy, who was once employed with one of the country’s biggest media outlets.

Rolyn admitted that she had to experience several failures before slowly enjoying success. All of her previous investments – from barbershop and eatery to other backyard businesses - did not prosper. She lost so much resources, but, she continued holding on to her optimism.

Armed with knowledge and skills in meat processing, the mother of two decided to start selling some longganisa to friends and officemates. She continued doing so during her free time and office breaks. However, time came when she had to allot more time to process her highly in-demand product. More new customers wanted to taste it. More orders came.

In December 2016, Rolyn decided to resign from work, after 15 years of serving the Dabawenyos. A month after filing for resignation, she received the approval. For her, that was already the last sign she had been waiting for.

In 2017, she registered A’s and R’s Food Products. With the help of a Chinese friend, who lent her the equipment for food processing, she has been able to meet the required volume by customers. Her husband has also been very supportive of the business. Being a former media personality, Randy has become the endorser of their products.

“Si Randy mismo ang nag-offer na s’ya na lang ang mamahimong endorser sa among produkto. Tungod kay nailhan naman s’ya, mas nahimong dali ang pagpaila sa among produkto (Randy was really the one who volunteered to endorse our brand. Since he is known already, it was never hard for him to promote our products,” the beaming mother of two shared.

In May 2018, A’s and R’s Food Products joined the Pinoy MSME Expo here, the first-ever trade fair they participated in.

“It was really God’s plan na makaapil mi ato. And that was the start of the continued blessing,” she said.

Aside from the training and seminars she has attended through the Negosyo Center, Rolyn also worked hard to be part of the Branding and Equity Development Program, which has enabled her to improve the overall packaging of her products.

While it is true that there is a bunch of meat processors wherever one goes, A’s and R’s Food Products takes pride of the fact that they are consistent with the quality and taste of their products.

“We make sure that the taste they love the first time they tried our products would still be the same taste they will get in the next purchases,” she pointed out.

A’s and R’s Food Products can be bought at all branches of Lots for Less and at the Davao City Pasalubong Center.
