A DAVAO City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) personnel who was recently reported by his family to be missing will be facing charges and termination after investigation showed that he lied about his abduction.

A certain Rahman Guiamad was reported by his daughter as missing on January 14 through a Facebook post.

During the Ispeak media forum Thursday, January 24, CTTMO Chief Dionisio Abude told reporters that Guiamad was in the custody of Sta. Cruz Municipal Police Station for further investigation.

“So nahibal-an namo na at the time sa paglakaw niya, naa siya’y P120,000 na cash, dapat mugawas na sa investigation. Kani kay murag ilukat sa colorum na nadakpan (We found out that at the time of his disappearance, he has P120,000 cash meant to be payment for the colorum vehicle he caught),” Abude said.

Abude further said that Guiamad may have spent the money on gambling, so on that day he moved his family to Cotabato City but he was caught by the police.

Guiamad will be terminated and will face a case to be filed by the authority for inventing a story of his abduction that caused the police force and the whole region to believe that he really was abducted.

“Conditioning lang man ‘to. Gipagawas sa Facebook aron kami tanan makabalo mi nga nawala siya. Aron ni pag-abot sa maningil, isulti lang nga nawala ang kwarta (It was a conditioning strategy so that we will know he’s gone missing and when asked about the money, he will have an excuse that he does not have it anymore),” Abude said.

Abude explained that the first element of kidnapping should have been the abductor calling the family to express his/her intention and demand. This however, was ironic on the part of Guimad when he sent his own text message to his family claiming that he was abducted.

Second element is warning the family not to tell the authorities or a warning and threat not to involve police force which did not happen. There were also no signs of commotion in his duty area.
