Zamboanga launches local achievers award

MAYOR Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar announced that the search for exemplary Zamboangueños continues as the Local Achievers Award formally opens to accept nominations until February 15.

Held as one of the highlights of the Dia de Zamboanga celebration, Salazar said the Local Achievers Award is an annual recognition conferred to Zamboangueños with exceptional achievements and accomplishments in various fields.

She said these fields include art and culture, education, sports, community and public service, city government service, tourism, and investment.

Two award categories are dedicated for top individual and corporate taxpayers based on business taxes paid to the city treasurer.

The Orgullo de Zamboanga Premiar, on the other hand, is an honor bestowed on a single individual in recognition of significant and meritorious contributions to the city of Zamboanga.

Salazar said that nomination forms are available at the Public Information Division of the City Government, and nomination period will run until February 15. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
