REGARDLESS where we travel, we always find and try the best food in town.

In Nanning, China it’s all in Zhongshan Food Alley where exotic, fresh, and spicy food will have your taste buds going for an adventure.

Zhongshan Food Street is a night market located at the heart of Nanning surrounded by towering skyscrapers. It is one of the busiest night markets in Nanning visited by hundreds of tourists and locals every night.

Compared to Davao City’s Roxas Night Market, Zhongshan is not for the faint-hearted as food like scorpions, worms, centipedes, seafood, and other exotic finger food and drinks are up for grabs at a low price.

I personally tried the spicy deep fried worms, which tasted like our spicy chicken skin coated with chili powder - a perfect food for the cold weather.

Dry ice cream, hotdogs, nuts, lamb barbeques, dimsum, and noodles are just few of the wide range of food the street alley can offer to its visitors.

Going to night markets used to be a hassle as tourists used to bring bills to pay for the food, but in Zhongshan and other establishments in Nanning, money is a thing of the past. Food stalls even the small ones use QR codes via Alipay in every transaction, and its hassle free.

Before leaving, we dropped by at a souvenir shop as we wrapped up our visit in Nanning. I spent around P2,000 for my pasalubong until the store closed around 11 p.m.

The night market usually opens around 6 p.m. until midnight for the hungry and adventurous taste buds seeking for an adventure inside the Green City of China.
