That's how Jose Alfonso "Joal" Abad remembered his 19-year-old daughter Ashley hours before she and her boyfriend attended a party on the eve of Sinulog, January 19.
Abad admitted that Ashley's boyfriend, Neil Spencer Tiu, asked for his permission to take Ashley to a party at the Cebu Business Park in Cebu City.
Two hours after they left, Abad was horrified when Tiu informed him over the phone that his daughter was in the emergency room of Perpetual Succour Hospital.
Abad immediately rushed to the hospital. Upon his arrival, the doctors and nurses informed him that Ashley was in a state of coma due to a drug that she ingested.
At this time, Tiu confessed to Abad that Ashley took ecstasy.
A furious Abad asked Tiu to go home.
Ashley passed away at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 20, due to drug overdose.
Abad said the family of Tiu did not cooperate with the police who are investigating the incident.
He said they made Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Chief Supt. Debold Sinas wait for two hours, only to be told that Sinas had to face their lawyers.
Former Philippine National Police Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa was reportedly irked and promised the Abad family that he will help speed up the investigation. (EOB)
