Skyranch report out soon

BAGUIO City Councilor Elmer Datuin announced the report on the Skyranch inspection will be out soon.

“We are still preparing ocular report together with the City Buildings and Architecture Office (CBAO). Technical report will be done by licensed mechanical engineer from CBAO. It will be due in a weeks’ time,” Datuin said.

He added the report will dwell on what transpired during the joint inspection with all stakeholders like all the adjoining schools CBAO planning and engineering offices and all councilors.

The city lawmaker added from the academe, only representatives from the University of the Cordilleras (UC) came to participate.

“It appears that the schools already have a compromise agreement with Skyranch,” said Datuin, adding agreement on noise volume and hours of operation of rides might have been made.

Last year, educational institutions aired concerns over noise generated by the SM amusement park making learning difficult for students.

University of the Philippines Baguio chancellor Raymound Rovillos and UC vice president for administration Leonarda Aguinalde admitted noise pollution from the SM City Skyranch amusement park and the ongoing construction of the mall’s new building is bothering students during class hours.

Datuin said the council can decide if a consultation is needed and will leave it to his colleagues to pursue.

A resolution is currently pending at the City Council urging SM City Baguio and Sky Ranch Amusement Park Baguio to conduct public consultations on the social acceptability of their amusement park and recreation facility project and also directs SM to seek an endorsement from the City Council in compliance with the provisions of the Local Government Code.
