Nigerian Envoy cites Iloilo City

THE Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nigeria thanked Iloilo City for accommodating Nigerian students in the metropolis.

Her excellency Adekunbi Abibat Sonaike-Ayodeji paid a courtesy call to Mayor Jose Espinosa III at City Hall last Friday, January 25.

She is one of the city government’s invited foreign envoys to witness the 51st Iloilo Dinagyang Festival last January 26 to 27.

“I came here for the festival which is no more confined in Iloilo alone, but also in national, and is recognized in the international level,” Ayodeji said.

“I also came here because Iloilo has been accommodating in terms of our students. I want to come here to express my appreciation to the Mayor and people of Iloilo City. This is also promoting the bilateral relations between Nigeria and the Philippines,” she added.

Several Nigerian students are studying in various universities here.

It is the ambassador's first time to visit and commended the city’s cleanliness.

“First impression lasts for life and my impression about Iloilo City is something positive and is clean,” said Ayodeji. (PR)
