RESPONSIBLE tourism will be part of the initiatives of newly installed Department of Tourism Davao (DOT 11) Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan.

Tan said the progress and development of the tourism sector in the region will be sustained if there is a healthy and well-maintained environment.

She said it is important to educate tourists on the importance of having a clean environment.

Tan said it is a mutual effort between the government and stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of the tourism industry.

The DOT on Friday, January 25, said in a statement that the tourism campaign for the Philippines is to promote the country as a “premiere sustainable tourism destination.”

The department wants to promote responsible tourism in a bid to sustain the “more fun” experience for future generations.

Meanwhile, Tan also said the promotion of farm tourism across the region will be strengthened.

Tan said she will also closely coordinate with local government officials (LGUs) in order to assess how to promote different tourist sites in each province and cities in Davao Region.
