THE Department of Tourism Davao regional office (DOT 11) is seeking to strengthen its efforts in accrediting hotels and tourist accommodation facilities in the Davao Region.

DOT 11 Regional Director Tanya Rabat-Tan said in a media forum at SM City Davao Tuesday, January 29, that more accredited hotels can entice more tourists to visit the region.

“Ang gusto natin ay long-term sustainable development. We would like to accredit more establishments like hotels and restaurant but basically ang pinaka-primary kay ang mga hotel accreditations unta (We want a long-term sustainable development. We would like to accredit more establishments especially hotels),” Tan said.

Tan added that accredited hotels can enjoy incentives from DOT like being advertised on their websire or brochure.

Based on the Davao Tourism website, there are 29 DOT-accredited hotels in the region. Other DOT-accredited accommodations include two apartments, eight tourist inns, one pension house, two homestay, and 13 resorts.

Meanwhile, Tan also said the department is also looking at accrediting restaurants too. Davao Tourism records show that there are currently nine restaurants which are DOT-accredited.

Tan reminded hotel operators to visit the city tourism offices and DOT site offices to get accredited.

Hotel facilities are judged according to the following criteria: arrival/departure, public areas, bedroom, food and beverage, amenities and services, and business practices.
