Central Luzon police condemn Jolo bombing

THE Central Luzon police Tuesday, January 29, strongly condemned the bombing of the Jolo Cathedral of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, on Sunday.

Chief Superintendent Joel Coronel, Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon director, said that the whole police force in this region is on heightened alert following the twin bombings.

“While we are outraged by the tragic attacks on our Christian brothers and sisters and reiterate our unequivocal condemnation of the bombing of churches not only in Jolo but on the different places of worship, we are not pointing fingers to any faith community,” said Coronel.

“We assure that we will use the full force of the law to bring to justice the perpetrators behind this incident,” he said.

“We extend our sincerest condolences to the families and friends of the victims and offer our sympathy to the peace-loving people of Sulu who were victims of these barbaric acts,” Coronel said.

“Let us keep on upholding the spirit of unity and continue to pray for those who would seek to sow discord and enmity in our country for the sake of peace,” he said.

Coronel said the Philippine National Police is collectively taking steps to ensure that everyone feels safe and secured knowing that their freedom to worship is protected.

“We continue to appeal to the public to help us in our goal of maintaining peace and order in Central Luzon,” the PRO-Central Luzon director said. (Ric Sapnu)
