No more extension, taxpayers told

THE City Treasurer’s Office of Cagayan de Oro will no longer extend the renewal of business permits, according to acting Assistant City Treasurer Leonil Mistula.

“On February 1, we will impose a total of 29 percent of both regulatory fees and the one quarter basic tax,” Mistula said.

The deadline for the business establishments to renew their business permits initially was on January 20 and was moved to January 31 after the City Council approved the extension of deadline following the recommendation of City Mayor Oscar Moreno.

Moreno's recommendation was in line with the resolution passed by the Local Finance Committee under lawyer Percy Salazar, LFC Chair and City Budget Officer.

LFC advised the extension after acting upon the request of Oro Chamber President Irene Floro and Misamis Oriental Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. President Simon Ching.

The Business One-Stop Shop at the City Hall will remain open to the transacting public from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., while the satellite business registration centers located at SM CDO Downtown Premier and SM City Cagayan de Oro will also be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
